My goal when creating a robot is to make sure you can tell how it perceives its surroundings, and to make the joints coincide with how it's supposed to move, and make it look like it's not going to topple over. You need to keep some semblance of engineering and physical laws in your head to do so, or you get picked apart like the star trek star ships.
But the variety of designs you can play with are endless. It can walk, hover, roll, crawl, stretch, bounce, or even mimic a life form.
