You can really have fun with fantasy weapons. They're a source of pride for the character and should mostly coincide with the attire, unless the story says otherwise, like maybe it was given or found. The more brutish the character is, usually the more crude and primitive the weapon. A damaged weapon can tell a tale of a battle worn warrior.
